Ryo Ueyama used to be a photographer but started working as a potter in his hometown.
DAIROKU is a trade name from when his family used to make Japanese boats, WASEN.
He has a respect for old things and his studio is located in an area with ruins from The Yayoi or Jomon period.
We first present his carbide-fired works.
When unglazed pieces are fired together with charcoal, the red clay turns black and the white clay grey.
The smell of charcoal may appear at the beginning of use, but it is not harmful. It will gradually disappear with repeated use. Do not use microwave ovens or dishwashers. After washing, dry thoroughly to prevent mold from forming.
